A Night At Hogwarts: In support of the Child Cancer Foundation

In 2019, we brought Hogwarts and all it’s magic to Ōtautahi for one night only, all in support of the Child Cancer Foundation.

At the Arts Centre’s Great Hall, a magical night including a banquet dinner, Hogwarts’ teaching staff, an auction, cocktails and dancing took place.

And, before the evening of frivolity took place, we also hosted young people and their families for a viewing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and a magical afternoon tea in the Great Hall. These young muggles were either actively going through cancer treatment, siblings of cancer patients, or were young people in remission. Each and every face lit up in delight when entering Hogwarts - their amazement is something our team will always treasure.

Our team agonised over every detail of this event: we had custom projection mapping lighting up an entire wall of the hall that changed throughout the evening, the menu was printed as the Marauders Map, the food was served banquet style and hovered in the air, and there was Liquid Luck & PolyJuice potion on entry.

There was no limit to what we wanted to achieve with this magical evening, and we’re looking forward to making magic happen again in the near future.
