Indigo & iris: lipsticks PledgeMe Campaign

In 2016, our brilliant friends at indigo & iris raised nearly $130,000 via Kickstarter to create levitate, a mascara that donates 50% of all profits going to the Fred Hollows Foundation. After being a part of their cheerleading squad delivering that campaign, we jumped back on board to help them with their second campaign: indigo & iris lipsticks.

In 2019, indigo & iris successfully launched their second product, four vegan and cruelty-free lipstick shades, through PledgeMe. $59,820 was pledged by 820 people, with 50% of all profits going to Dress for Success. Lipsticks were a clear favourite of the indigo & iris community, as was the work of their charity partner, leading to the pairing of the two. Plus, they’re a damn great product.

Narrative’s valuable takeaways from this epic campaign:

  • Get prepared early.
We worked hard well in advance (months in advance!) with Hannah to confirm the messaging, the copy and the content.

  • The crowd were sent lots of good vibes and prepared for the campaign before it launched.

etting your social media audiences, databases, friends, family, (and whoever will listen) know that you’re launching a crowdfunding campaign and that you need their support on [insert date here] is vital. 10/10 recommend.

  • Hannah hustled hard.
Launching and running a crowdfunding campaign is a full-time job, no joke. Hannah’s tireless efforts and boundless positivity got this campaign funded - now, she’s organising the lipsticks to be sent around Aotearoa to their loving pledgers, and indigo & iris has two stunning products. Girl Boss.
